Petplan - Working with us

Thank you for working with Petplan and Petplan Equine.

This page outlines key information about working with Petplan and Petplan Equine. You'll find information on how to place business and pay premiums, how your commission works, what happens with documentation as well as how claims are processed and how the progress of claims can be checked online.

Obtaining quotes and placing business

Please call our dedicated Brokerline on 0845 074 2733 to obtain a quote or set up a policy.

For cat, dog and rabbit policies please press 1

For equine and rider plan please press 2

You'll need to quote your Petplan Agency Number which is found on your Pet Plan Limited TOBA. This number is important in order to assign your commission correctly.

Payment

Whether you are able to place business on broker credit terms would have been determined when the TOBA was signed.

If your TOBA gives you credit terms, a statement will be sent to you at the end of each month showing the amount due, net of commission.

If paying via any other method, please pay the gross premium amount. Commission earned is then paid to you with the monthly commission statement.

Commission

Commission is paid on a pro-rata basis. If your client subsequently makes a change to their policy which changes the premium, this is reflected in the commission paid. Any change requiring a premium refund will result in commission clawback.

If you have credit terms, commission will be credited to your account on the transaction date and you'll receive a monthly commission statement showing the commission due to you.

If paying via any other method, commission is triggered when the first payment is received for that policy (either the full amount or first Direct Debit payment) and will appear on your next monthly statement.

Commission is paid monthly, one month in arrears. Commission rates for each product are shown in your TOBA.

Documentation

Policy documentation will either be sent to you to forward to the client, or directly to the client depending on what was agreed when your account was set up. This includes documents for new business, renewals, claims payments and all other payment correspondence except payments relating to broker credit terms which will always be sent to you.

Claims cheques will always be made payable to the client, unless we have agreed to pay the vet direct.

Claims

To make a claim, the relevant sections of the vet fees claim form must be completed by the client and the vet and sent to Petplan to be assessed.

Petplan's documentation packs include a claim form for veterinary fees to enable your clients to submit claims more easily. Additional forms and those for other types of claim can be downloaded from the Petplan website.

The Petplan website also allows the progress of individual claims to be tracked.

Marketing and Financial Promotions

The use of the Petplan or Petplan Equine names or any of their trademarks (including the use of logos) in any marketing literature or financial promotions is not allowed without prior written consent from Pet Plan Limited.
